I have always used artistic work to help my community, using film, music, and poetry for social impact. Art is powerful; it brings people together. Art is a unifying factor, and I take advantage of that by using it as a tool for togetherness.

My team and I work to highlight, support, and empower young people through art. I am a skilled storyteller and believe in the power of stories. My project is based on facts and evidence. All my stories are reliable and help fight false information, which harms society.  I received a life-changing chance that helped me and the Kibanda Project Organization.

I was selected as one of 12 journalists from East and Central Africa to participate in a year-long fellowship focused on OSINT, investigative storytelling, AI, and other skills essential for creating evidence-based projects. This program will conclude with the production of impactful projects addressing critical challenges in our region.

Workshop Overview

In late 2025, the Witness.org team hosted a week-long workshop in Nairobi, Kenya. Over this period, twelve of us gathered for an immersive learning experience. This environment enabled us to concentrate deeply on learning and collaboration, while also cultivating a strong sense of teamwork and shared purpose throughout the week.

Throughout the week, we engaged in both structured lessons and hands-on activities.

OSINT and Information Analysis

Additionally, we examined OSINT, or Open Source Intelligence, which involves utilizing publicly accessible information to verify facts.

Today, vast amounts of information are available online. Yet, through careful analysis, we can uncover trustworthy evidence.

Through this process, we enhanced our critical thinking abilities. Additionally, OSINT demonstrated how data fosters greater transparency and accountability.

Simultaneously, we explored AI and its expanding influence in our daily lives. Recognizing AI’s inevitability, we emphasized the importance of using it responsibly.

As a result, I discovered how AI can elevate storytelling by assisting with research, organizing narratives, and boosting efficiency.

In practice, this method is known as hybrid storytelling. It enables AI to enhance human creativity while also saving valuable time.

Closing and Fellowship Continuation

The training ended with a meditation session that encouraged reflection and connection. Later, we shared a group dinner at Carnivore Restaurant, making for a memorable and meaningful conclusion to the week.

Moving forward, the fellowship will continue for one year, with the majority of collaboration occurring virtually.
