Nicholas Olwa
Co-Founder & Team Leader
Nicholas Olwa is a Kenyan creative, investigative storyteller, and community media leader working at the intersection of art, journalism, and social justice. He is the co-founder of the Kibanda Project CBO and Chambua KETV, a grassroots digital media platform that amplifies stories from Nairobi’s informal settlements and across Kenya.
With a background in acting, film, music, poetry, and freelance journalism, Nicholas uses storytelling as both a creative and investigative tool. His work focuses on environmental justice, urban inequality, misinformation, and community resilience.
He’s also CNN Academy trainee, and a WITNESS.org fellow, where he received year-long training in visual verification, OSINT, AI, and ethical investigative documentation. He combines community-based engagement with digital tools to produce accountable, evidence-backed narratives.
Through Kibanda Project, he mentors youth, supports local creatives, and builds media literacy, believing that communities must own their stories to shape their futures.

William Ong’wen
Secretary
William Ong’wen is the Secretary of the Kibanda Project, a community-based organization focused on social enlightenment and health advocacy. He has experience working in USAID-supported HIV/AIDS programs under the University of Nairobi School of Health Sciences, with placements at Kenyatta National Hospital and Pumwani Maternity Hospital.
William is passionate about community wellbeing, the arts, and literature, and is a keen observer of society. A technology enthusiast, he is interested in using digital tools to drive social impact and empower communities.

George Agak
Communications Lead
George Agak is a communications professional, writer, and PR practitioner with over a decade of experience in storytelling, media, and digital strategy. He specialises in strategic communication, public relations, and content management. His work focuses on translating community work and creative projects into clear, accurate narratives.
He has worked across digital media, community-based initiatives, and the creative industries. He has a strong background in storytelling, social media management, website content management, copywriting, and audience engagement. His approach prioritises credibility, ethics, and long-term impact.
At Kibanda Project, George leads communications strategy and digital storytelling. He oversees content development, programme documentation, and media publishing. His work is rooted in lived experience and guided by ethical storytelling, using communication to amplify community voices and support accountability and engagement.
