Since 2017, the Kibanda Project has been at the forefront of social empowerment through the transformative power of art. Our mission has been clear: to use various art forms to promote peace and foster social impact, especially during critical periods such as elections.

Our journey began in 2017 with a spoken word video titled “ZII. This powerful piece of poetry was crafted to inspire unity and calm tensions during the pre-election period. One of the most impactful aspects of our work has been touring informal settlements—areas often heavily affected during and after elections. These visits allowed us to interact directly with community members, listen to their stories, and share messages of hope and unity. Through these interactions, the Kibanda Project has been able to create spaces for dialogue, empower local voices, and contribute to a culture of peace.

Art has proven to be a universal language capable of bridging divides and addressing social challenges. As we move forward, the Kibanda Project remains committed to harnessing creative expression to empower communities, promote peace, and inspire positive social change across Kenya.
