Event Details
The African Media Festival took place on February 24th and 25th at the National Museum in Nairobi, Kenya. This two-day event united industry leaders, media professionals, and enthusiasts to celebrate and explore the vibrant and evolving landscape of African media and beyond. I was impressed by the seamless organization and experienced insightful panel discussions, interactive workshops, and valuable networking opportunities designed to encourage collaboration and innovation within the sector. The Baraza Media Lab initiative stood out by focusing on emerging issues such as AI, digital journalism, and content creation, highlighting their impact on traditional journalism. At Kibanda Project, we harness the power of art to create meaningful social impact. This event offered a valuable opportunity for learning and networking. We extend our heartfelt thanks to https://www.witness.org/ for making our attendance at the festival possible. Their financial and technical support has been crucial in helping us ensure truth and accuracy in the stories we tell. This participation was part of the outreach program within our ongoing fellowship on the Fortifying Truth project, currently in partnership with Witness.org.

The event celebrated not only media, culture, food, and music but also represented every African country. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn and gain fresh perspectives on Africa. It was also a great chance to explore the museum and deepen understanding of Kenyan history. Everything was exceptionalโfrom the warm, welcoming staff to the delicious cuisine. The day concluded perfectly with live music performances and DJ sets. Nairobi truly showcased its spirit and love.
